There will be a community meeting regarding the potential merger between Cassandra and Portage Township on October 1st, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Portage Township Building located at 4109 Portage Street.
Dear Residents,
The elected officials of Cassandra Borough and Portage Township invite all residents to attend a public meeting to discuss the potential merger of the two municipalities. The purpose of this meeting is to provide information about what a municipal merger could involve, discuss the potential benefits and challenges, answer questions from the residents and receive public input. No final decisions have been made and community input is part of this process. The questions regarding the merger willl be on the November 2026 ballot.
The meeting will be conducted by Terri Cunkle from the Department of Community and Economic Development. We encourage all residents to attend, learn about the process and share their thoughts. You input is valuable. We hope you can join us for for this important community decision.
